One landmark case was taken by our firm to the level of the Florida Supreme Court. The case set a precedent in evaluating stress related work injuries for compensation. Reported on the front page of the Miami Herald, the case was argued on behalf of a teacher who suffered a career-ending brain hemorrhage for which workers’ compensation coverage was being denied. - A Crew Member received $5,000,000 for severe brain damage he suffrered due to a delay in shipboard medical response and negligent resuscitation following a collapse on the ship.
- A Crew Member (galley worker) with Norwegian Cruise Lines received $3,250,000 for injuries suffered on board the ship in addition to over $150,000 in medical treatment and maintenance.
- A Crew Member (cleaner) received $2,600,000 and over $500,000 in medical treatment and maintenance due to the neglient medical treatment she received for a parasite (Tapeworm) that entered her brain. The parasite had to be surgucally removed. Had the treatment been appropriate and timely, it is likely the parasite would not have made its way into the brain.
- A Crew Member was awarded $2,200,972 against Carnival Cruise Line. The Court found that the Cruise Line was unreasonable in withholding necessary medical treatment to the Crew Member resulting the need for a third back surgery and spinal fusion to correct 2 prior failed surgeries. - A woman (restaurant owner) received $2,250,000 for severe burn injuries suffered when lye she was putting into a floor drain exploded in her face.
- A minor received $1,680,000 for brain injuries suffered when the car he was riding in collided with a Coca Cola truck.
- A crew member received $1,500,000 plus over $150,000 in medical treatment for brain surgery for an abscess caused by improper dental treatment by Carnival Cruise Line.
- A woman received over $1,560,000 in medical treatment and compensation for a leg fracture that aggravated her Multiple Sclerosis.
- A man (yard maintenance) received $1,250,000 for electrical injury against Florida Power and Light and the rental company of a personnel lift.

- A long-term care insurance company paid an elderly man $975,000 after wrongfully denying his claim for long-term care benefits for the costs associated with the care he received while residing in an assisted living facility.
- A long term Crew Member (waiter) received $900,000 for years of mismanagement by the Cruise Line of his hypertension on the ship in addition to over $300,000 in medical treatment including dialysis and a kidney replacement. The mismanagement of his hypertension severely damaged his kidneys leading to the need for a transplant.
- A Crew Member (tug boat engineer) received $900,000 and in excess of $500,000 for medical treatment and maintenance for back injuries he sustained while handling a tow line on a tug boat.
- A Crew Member (baker) received $850,000 for years of mismanagement of his diabetes and hypertension by the doctors on the ship.
- A Longshoreman (welder) received $750,000 for a welding accident on board the ship when molten welding slag went into his ear.
- A minor received $700,000 for injuries suffered when the car he was riding in collided with a Coca Cola truck.
- A Crew Member received $700,000 and over $150,000 for medical treatment and maintenance for mismanagement of an infectious disease (HIV) by the Cruise Line he was working for.
- A man ( yacht engineer) received $556,000 for lung injuries suffered in a fire on a yacht as well as over $100,000 in medical treatment.
- A man received $485,000 for injuries suffered in a truck accident.
- A Crew Member (maitre d') received $410,00 for mismanagement of his glaucoma (disease of the eyes) on the ship
- A woman received $495,000 for brain injuries suffered in a car accident.
